Tannins, amines including histamine,
tyramine, choline and methylamine,
flavonoids, saponins, mucilage, alkaloid.
Acts as an astringent, expectorant, hemostatic.
Traditional Uses:
Dermatological remedy. Arthritis pain relief, and bone and joint pain. Bladder health maintenance. Female health maintenance: Internally and as a douche to help with white discharge. Helps with menopause and menstrual disorders. May reduce infections, especially in the urethra and prostate gland. For bruises. For upper respiratory infections. Serves as an expectorant, for coughs, and may help for bronchitis. Purifies the blood. Detoxification and cleansing. Flatulence and for gastrointestinal disorders. Liver health maintenance. Promotes sleep. Used for hemorrhages, as in spitting of blood and dysentery. May be beneficial in the treatment of internal bleeding.
Directions to use:
Infusion: Pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1 teaspoon of herb. Steep for 5 – 10min and strain. Drink two to three times per day. To relieve respiratory ailments, drink one cup with honey several times per day.
