anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic,
alterative, nervine, hypotensive
Traditional Uses:
Balances female hormones, arthritis, sciatica, neuralgia, tinnitus, anti-spasmodic. Rheumatoid arthritis, menopause. Helps with cramping pain in the womb and cramping associated with ovulation. Can also be used in labour to aid uterine activity and nervousness. Helps to alleviate physical and mental changes associated with menopause. Very effective in treatment of rheumatic pain including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and muscular problems. Can be used to treat sciatica and neuralgia.
Directions to use:
Decoction: 1 cup of water over ½ – 1 teaspoon of dried root. Bring to boil, simmer for 10 – 15min. Drink three times per day.
Safety precautions:
Do not take if suffering from diabetes or high blood pressure. Should be avoided by persons suffering from heart disease. Should not be taken in combination with anti-depressants. Can cause dizziness, nausea, and headaches. Do not use if pregnant or lactating. Consult with a medical practitioner before use.
