Traditional Uses:

Have effects on endocrine system and the liver among other organs. For bronchial problems such as catarrh, bronchitis, asthma, allergies, and coughs. Has a laxative effect and helps for adrenal gland problems. For chronic fatigue, fever, and hypoglycemia. For peptic ulceration, abdominal colic, gastritis, and ulcers. It inhibits the growth of several DNA and RNA viruses and irreversibly inactivates herpes simplex virus particles.

Directions to use:

Decoction: Add ½ – 1 (1 – 5g) teaspoon of the root in 1 cup of water. Bring to the boil and simmer for 10 -15min. Strain and drink once or twice per day.

Safety precautions:

Do not use if pregnant or lactating. Do not use when suffering from untreated high blood pressure, or if you suffer with diabetes, glaucoma or have a history of stroke. Might deplete potassium. Consult with a medical practitioner before use.
