Traditional Uses:
Mainly used to relieve pain and inflammation. Known as natures aspirin. For rheumatism, osteoarthritis, and arthritis. Use to reduce period pains and backache. Acts as a replacement of aspirin but does not have the side effects of stomach irritation. Reduces high temperature. Can be used as a general pain killer for headaches and toothache. Used for migraines together with feverfew, with improvement in the frequency, intensity, and duration of attacks.
Directions to use:
Decoction: Pour 1 cup of boiling water onto 1 teaspoon of dried bark, bring to a boil and simmer for 10 – 15min. Steep for a while. Strain and drink three times per day.
Safety precautions:
Do not use if pregnant or lactating. May interfere with absorption of iron and other minerals when taken internally. Do not use if allergic to aspirin. Consult with a medical practitioner before use.
