Chelidonium majus
Anti-spasmodic, chalogogue,
anodyne, purgative diuretic.
Traditional Uses:
Used as a remedy for infections of the gall bladder and gall stones. Effective for all gall bladder, kidney, and liver diseases. May assist in purifying and stimulating the blood. For jaundice. Use for stomach pains. Used for various problems with the digestive tract including upset stomach, gastroenteritis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), constipation, loss of appetite, stomach cancer, intestinal polyps.
Directions to use:
Infusion: 1 cup of boiled water over 1 teaspoon (2g – 5g) of dried herb. Infuse for 10 – 15min. Drink once per day.
Safety precautions:
Can cause rashes, itching, and serious allergic reactions in some people. Stay within recommended dosages. The herb is reported to be poisonous to dogs and some farm animals. Do not use if pregnant or lactating. It can cause serious liver problems. Consult with a medical practitioner before use.
